Watch Tom Hiddleston in First ‘I Saw the Light’ Trailer

I Saw the Light is a 2015 biography film directed, written and produced by Marc Abraham, starring Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams and Elizabeth Olsen as Audrey Williams. It is based on the book Hank Williams: The Biography by Colin Escott, George Merritt, and William (Bill) MacEwen. It was screened in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is scheduled to be released on March 25, 2016, by Sony Pictures Classics.

The film revolves around country music singer Hank Williams’ rise to fame and sudden death at the age of 29.

Louis Allen “Lou” Rawls (December 1, 1933 – January 6, 2006) was an American recording artist, voice actor, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for his singing ability: Frank Sinatra once said that Rawls had “the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game”. Rawls released more than 60 albums, sold more than 40 million records, and had numerous charting singles, most notably his song “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine”. He worked as a television, motion picture, and voice actor. He was also a three-time Grammy-winner, all for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

Dec 1: Jaco Pastorious was born in 1951

John Francis Anthony Pastorius III (December 1, 1951 – September 21, 1987), known as Jaco Pastorius, was an influential American jazz musician, composer, big band leader and electric bass player. He is best known for his work with Weather Report from 1976 to 1981, as well as work with artists including Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, and his own solo projects.

Nov 22: Steven Van Zandt was born in 1950 – Happy Birthday

Steven Van Zandt (born November 22, 1950) is an American musician, songwriter, arranger, record producer, actor, and radio disc jockey, who frequently goes by the stage names Little Steven or Miami Steve. He is a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, in which he plays guitar and mandolin. He has also acted in television dramas such as The Sopranos (1999–2007) and Lilyhammer (2012-2014). Van Zandt also had his own solo band called “Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul” in the 1980s. In 2014, Van Zandt was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the E Street Band.

Nov 22: The Beatles released With The Beatles in 1963

“With The Beatles” is the second studio album by the Beatles. It was released on 22 November 1963, on Parlophone, and was recorded four months after the band’s debut “Please Please Me”. The album features eight original compositions (seven by Lennon–McCartney and “Don’t Bother Me”, George Harrison’s first recorded solo composition and his first released on a Beatles album) and six covers (mostly of Motown and R&B hits). It remained at the top of the charts for 21 weeks, displacing Please Please Me, so that the Beatles occupied the top spot for 51 consecutive weeks. In 2003, the album was ranked number 420 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Nov 22: The Beatles released “the white album” in 1968

I rank this as the third best Beatles album, and it is of course a rock masterpiece. When I converted to CDs this was my very first buy, I love it! The Beatles is the ninth official album by the Beatles, a double album. It is commonly known as the “White Album” as it has no graphics or text other than the band’s name embossed (and, on the early LP and CD releases, a serial number) on its plain white sleeve.
