The Allman Brothers Band Best Songs – 7 different lists (Billboard, Guitar World, Stereogum and more)

The original six-piece band, with Duane and Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jaimoe created inspired, utterly unique magic. From their remarkable self-titled debut album in 1969, the band succeeded in reinventing blues-based music in a way that was both visionary and true to the original material.

  1. Dreams is my No. 1; the live version of Whipping Post is overrated. Also love Not My Cross to Bear and High Cost of Low Living (all ranked on the “Critics’ List”). I’d also suggest that Stormy Monday live is the best version of an incredible blues tune, and who doesn’t love Blue Sky?
