Sticky Fingers is the ninth British and eleventh American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released 23 April 1971 on their new, and own, label Rolling Stones Records after previously having been contracted by Decca Records and London Records in the UK and US since 1963.

I’d written songs before then, but they were little things like Yesterday’s Papers. Now I could take it more seriously. Brown Sugar was one of those songs. I wrote it in Australia, somewhere between Melbourne and Sydney, while I was in my trailer filming Ned Kelly – I had a whole bunch of time out there. I was simply writing what I wanted to write, not trying to test the waters. People are very quick to react to what you write, but I just write what comes into my head.

Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Band, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen sing “Long Black Veil”

William Orville “Lefty” Frizzell was born March 31, 1928 (and died on July 19, 1975). He is one of the greatest vocalists in country music and one of his best songs is “Long Black Veil” a 1959 country ballad, written by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin.

Many great artists have covered this wonderful song, I’ve collected some of them here.

Written by Bob Dylan, recorded in Los Angeles in the spring of 1981 and released in August of that year on Dylan’s album Shot of Love.

  • Shine A Light – The Rolling Stones

    Released on “Exile on Main St.” – a double album by English rock band The Rolling Stones. It was released on 12 May 1972 by Rolling Stones Records. The album’s music incorporates rock and roll, blues, soul, country, and gospel genres.
    In 2003, the album was ranked 7th on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
